NBTC licence update would give existing data centers 90 days to comply

Existing operators face a 90-day licence update after notification
Existing data center licensees would have 90 days from receiving a regulatory notice to add service-specific licence conditions under an NBTC decision reported by Thansettakij on Monday, citing a source at the regulator.
The report says the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission has approved the transition period. Existing operators would need to submit electricity purchase contracts, water-supply certification and approved plans covering energy, cooling and safety systems, alongside their previous year’s operating report.
The disclosure accompanies proposals for data centers seeking Type 3 telecommunications licences. Applicants would need a power purchase agreement or documentation from the Metropolitan or Provincial Electricity Authority demonstrating an allocation matching the project’s IT load, together with certification from the relevant water utility that supply is sufficient.
The wider package is being prepared for the national data center policy board. The reported 90-day period starts when an operator receives its notice; it is not a single nationwide deadline running from Monday.
